Frequently Asked Questions about Kava App

Everything you need to know about the Kava App platform — staking, lending, governance, wallets, and more.

General
Kava App is a decentralized blockchain platform that combines the interoperability of the Cosmos ecosystem with the developer power of Ethereum. It features a unique co-chain architecture that supports both the Cosmos SDK and an EVM-compatible environment running in parallel. This allows users and developers to access the best of both worlds — Cosmos interoperability and Ethereum tooling — all within a single network.
The KAVA token is the native token of the Kava App blockchain. It is used for paying transaction fees (gas) on the network, staking to earn rewards and secure the chain, participating in governance voting, and as a reward distributed to users who supply assets to Kava App Lend and other protocol features.
Kava App stands out through its co-chain architecture, combining Cosmos and EVM in one network. Unlike single-chain DeFi platforms, Kava App allows users to interact with both Cosmos-native assets and Ethereum-compatible tokens seamlessly. The platform also provides a unified app interface for staking, lending, governance, and bridging assets across chains, simplifying the DeFi experience significantly.
Staking & Rewards
Staking on Kava App is straightforward. First, connect your wallet on the Kava App app. Then navigate to the staking section, select a validator from the list, enter the amount of KAVA you wish to delegate, and confirm the transaction. Once delegated, you will automatically begin earning staking rewards proportional to your stake.
Staking rewards on Kava App depend on several factors including total network stake, validator commission rates, and the current inflation parameters set by governance. Rewards are paid out in KAVA tokens and are automatically accrued. You can view estimated APY rates in the Kava App staking interface for each validator.
When you choose to undelegate your staked KAVA on Kava App, there is an unbonding period of 21 days. During this period, your tokens are neither earning rewards nor can they be transferred. After the unbonding period completes, your KAVA will be available in your wallet automatically.
Lending & Borrowing
Kava App Lend allows you to supply supported assets like USD₮, wBTC, KAVA, and others to earn yield. When you supply assets, you receive interest from borrowers plus additional KAVA token rewards. There is no impermanent loss since you are lending, not providing trading liquidity. You can withdraw your supplied assets at any time, subject to available liquidity in the pool.
Kava App Lend supports a growing list of assets including KAVA, USD₮ (Tether), wBTC, and other tokens available on the Kava App chain. Featured assets displayed in the Kava App app include USD₮ and wBTC, both of which earn KAVA rewards simply by supplying. Check the Kava App app for the most up-to-date list of supported assets and their current rates.
Wallets & Connectivity
Kava App is compatible with a wide range of wallets. For the EVM co-chain, you can use MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, and any WalletConnect-compatible wallet. For the Cosmos co-chain, Keplr and other Cosmos-compatible wallets are supported. Simply click "Connect Wallet" on the Kava App app to see available options and connect your preferred wallet.
You can bridge assets to Kava App using the cross-chain tools built directly into the Kava App app. The platform supports cross-chain trading using ERC-20 and Cosmos assets, and in some cases you can exchange for KAVA without even needing KAVA for gas fees first. Native USD₮ can also be transferred to any Cosmos chain in a single click through the Kava App interface.
Governance
Kava App uses on-chain governance where staked KAVA token holders can vote on proposals. Proposals can include protocol parameter changes, software upgrades, treasury spending, and other important decisions. To participate, you must have KAVA delegated to a validator. Visit the Vote section in the Kava App app to view active proposals and cast your vote. Voting power is proportional to your staked KAVA balance.
